Tim Ackers is the founder and lead fabricator at Shores NZ Fabrication. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in motorsport and custom metal fabrication, Tim is known for his technical skill, attention to detail, and deep understanding of what it takes to build race-proven, safety-compliant vehicles.
As a competitive driver himself, Tim’s background spans from working the pits at Western Springs Speedway to racing in the U.S. with the Butler Racing Team — and winning multiple off-road events here in New Zealand.
His unique blend of practical fabrication knowledge and racing insight ensures every build is not only compliant but truly competition-ready.

How It All Started
Shores NZ Autoworx (Shores NZ Fabrication Ltd) was built from a deep love of motorsport and a dedication to craftsmanship that lasts, whether it’s on the track or in the field.
What began as a passion project in a small garage has grown into a respected name in custom fabrication and automotive services across Auckland. At the heart of it is Tim Ackers, a welder, fabricator, and off-road racer with over 20 years’ experience. From working the pits at Western Springs Speedway Park to racing with the Butler Racing Team in the U.S., Tim brings hands-on motorsport knowledge to every project, along with a standard of quality that never wavers.

In the middle of that job I also asked if he would make some aesthetic adjustments to an internal support/roll bar. Result was incredible, great workmanship, car sounds and looks fantastic.
